Heartworm disease is 100% preventable — but some pugs come to us without protection. Sweet Maddie is one of them, now enduring a long, costly treatment that could’ve been avoided.
At PRFG, we purchase 6 months of heartworm prevention for every foster and send it with them when adopted. It’s our promise to give each pug a healthy start.
Prevention is vital — and your support helps make it possible. Just $10, $25, or $50 can protect a pug in need.

Exciting News for Senior Pug LOVERS!
A longtime friend of PRFG and previous adopter has graciously offered to cover adoption fees for senior pugs (age 10+) adopted between February 19 and June 3, 2025!
That means any senior pug who finds their forever home during this time will have their adoption fee completely covered! So far we have had 4 senior pugs adopted through this wonderful program.
Senior pugs may have a little more gray, but they have just as much love to give. If you've been thinking about adding a wise and wonderful pug to your family, now is the perfect time!
