Please note that surrender intakes may take a bit longer to coordinate during this time. We’re committed to helping every pug in need, but our team is working with reduced availability until January.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Our volunteers work tirelessly year-round, and this brief pause helps ensure they return refreshed and ready to give their all for the pugs we love.
If you are no longer able to care for your pug, for any reason, please consider surrendering them to Pug Rescue of FL & GA.
We are a foster-based rescue organization which means your pug will stay in a home with one of our experienced foster families (and that is a much better environment for a pug than a shelter!). While in the care of our foster families, your pug will receive the support and medical care they need, for as long as needed.
PLEASE DO NOT post your pug on Craigslist or Facebook to try to find a home for them. We know that many people who look on those sites do not have good intentions and could use your pug to breed, fight, or to sell. Your pug’s safety and long-term happiness is our biggest concern. You can read through our adoption page to understand how we carefully find the best home for each pug.
If you have questions and/or are ready to surrender your pug, please complete our Surrender Form. This form provides us with important information so a volunteer in your area can contact you to discuss your situation in more detail and determine how we can best help. **Please be honest when answering the questions on the form; your honesty about current medical or behavioral conditions helps us determine the best foster home for your pug and does not disqualify you from surrendering. The more truthful information that you provide, the easier the transition will be for your pug.**
To begin the process, please follow these steps:
Once you submit the form and email pictures, one of our volunteers will call, text, or email you; please give us as much advance notice as possible when you are thinking of surrendering so that we can plan accordingly. If it is an urgent/emergency situation, please make a note on the form.
We accept pure pugs regardless of age or medical condition. We accept pug mixes based on our availability of suitable and appropriate foster care. We do not accept pug mixes with serious behavioral issues such as biting or aggression - we are prepared for all types of medical situations, but serious behavioral issues are not our specialty. Thank you for your understanding.
